Carnitas Fair: A must in Morelia
Open your appetite and get ready to taste the delicious Carnitas Michoacán-style offered by the second edition of the Carnitas Fair, held this Sunday April 2nd in the city of Morelia.
At this event you can enjoy different versions of this typical dish, made with pork and cooked in a huge copper saucepan at high temperatures with the special seasoning of this region. As a cultural fact, this dish appeared since the arrival of the Spaniards but it took its original flavor with the years until becoming a dish completely typical of this state.
Its elaboration requires: pork meat, lard, salt and water, it is boiled for about one hour. Once the meat is cooked, it is served with handmade tortillas and pickled vegetables made in an artisanal vinegar made with pineapple peel. The bravest can drink it with the typical Uruapan beverage called Charanda, which is aguardiente made of pure sugar cane.
In this Festival you will be able to enjoy this dish from the hand of the best carnitas exhibitors, in addition to delighting your palate with cheeses, pork patitas, pork rinds, mezcal, craft beer, desserts, and homemade ice cream. While enjoying these delights, you can also listen to live music and purchase handicrafts from this state.
Bring all your family to this delicious gastronomic fair that will be held at the Orchid Garden of Morelia with free admission.
